Sneak Preview Images of Brand-New Consett Attraction

We are delighted to share a sneak preview a recent project with you: a selection of promotional photographs taken for a local business's brand-new attraction. Before Christmas, we were recently lucky enough to be invited in to The Old Court House (Consett), to see an exciting new attraction: 'Escapologist The Court House'. We were asked to take some 'teaser' snap shots of two revamped rooms.

We can't give too much away, but here's a couple of preview images:-

We thought that the attention to detail was nothing short of impressive; from the hand-painted artwork by Local Artist Glen Malpass, right down to the details on hand-made, hand-rendered props by The Escapologists, Selby. We love to work alongside Local Businesses. We have helped many businesses in the County Durham area by producing high-quality marketing materials and promotional imagery, which has helped their businesses to thrive. Escape Room fans are invited to steel themselves for the newest adventure to launch in the region which will set them a task inspired by County Durham history.

Owners of The Old Court House bar and kitchen in Consett have opened two Escape Rooms with a difference above their pub with the idea that customers can test their mettle with a series of problems and riddles and then reward themselves with a meal and drink downstairs.

Helen and David Parkinson, who took over the running of the pub in 2018, have drawn inspiration from the history and heritage of the former steel town to create the two new family attractions which will see game-players locked in a room and timed as they set about the task of freeing themselves by following clues and solving puzzles.

They have converted previously derelict rooms for the purpose and the first Escape Room has an industrial theme, features props and memorabilia from the steelworks which closed 40 years ago.

Created by Escape Room specialist The Escapologist, it will see groups set a puzzle to solve based upon the myths of Consett’s three rival giants - Con, Ben and Cor - who roamed the area.

And with minutes ticking away, they will try to beat the clock and escape in the quickest possible time.

Helen said: "The rooms are a mixture of fun, education and fantasy, featuring high-tech games which can be scaled up or down, depending on the group’s mixture of age and ability.

"Contestants in this room will have to forge a hammer out of iron using formulae and their problem-solving skills."

The second escape challenge above the Victoria Road pub is the Witches Room, which references the nearby village of Muggleswick.

This time game-players will face a witches-theme puzzle and a "games master" will be keeping watch over both rooms to provide clues if necessary.

Helen, an ex-army chef with a passion for fitness and healthy food, came up with the idea of the new uses for the empty rooms of the pub, which has undergone recent investment, and said the Escape Rooms tie in with plans for a new heritage centre due to open next door as well as being something new for Consett.

She said: "We want The Old Court House to be a family destination for the Escape Room, followed by a nice meal afterwards. Escape Rooms are becoming a really popular attraction for families and groups who want a fun and challenging day out.”

Husband David added that the opening marks the 40-year anniversary of the closure of the steelworks and said: "The town has a story to tell and we’re passionate about its heritage and we’re looking forward to sharing our passion with our customers old and new. We’re proud to be a part of Consett’s history and are looking forward to bringing it back to life in a unique, interactive way."
